About the Project

In July 2013, the Union of Public Organizations of Disabled People of Kyiv started the Project on Ensuring Access for People with Disabilities in Kyiv, supported by World Jewish Relief.

The Project is aimed at ensuring independent living for people with disabilities by creating accessible environment.

The Project includes monitoring of accessibility in 7 districts of Kyiv.

Monitoring results and consultations with experts and people with disabilities defined the most relevant places that have to be made accessible. 13 facilities have been built or reconstructed to allow access for people with disabilities (educational, healthcare, rehabilitation facilities, etc.).

Near 66 thousand people with disabilities in Kyiv and 175 560 persons with locomotor disabilities can enjoy full access to public buildings and facilities.

Zero Tolerance

Dear Friends! Please care for the needs of people with disabilities and other motor-impaired citizens!

  • Inform a respective authority of any poorly accessible facility or site.
  • Provide support to people with disabilities whenever they are denied access to services because of a disability.
  • Offer help to people who have difficulties entering or existing a building or overcoming any other barrier, if needed.

An information campaign is implemented under the Project on Ensuring Access for People with Disabilities in Kyiv, supported by World Jewish Relief, Trade Technology Trading House Ltd, and TUSO Jewelry Company.
