Together, we make dreams come true!

While some people only talk about wheelchair accessibility, we make the city is accessible for the people who really need it.
On May 14, 2014 the solemn opening of the comfortable, adapted in accordance with the needs of people with disabilities road a renovated ramp took place in the Center of socio-psychological rehabilitation of children and youth with functional limitations of Desnyanskiy district and in the district hospital №3 in Desnyanskiy district of Kyiv there was also built a new ramp.
These activities were implemented within the project “Ensuring the right to accessible environment for people with special needs”, which is being implemented by Kiev Municipal League of Public Organizations of People with Disabilities (SGOIK), with the support of the “World Jewish Relief” (WJR).

“Festively decorated by the students of our center, the courtyard attracted visitors from around the district from afar,” says Inna, the mother of one of the center’s visitors.
At the beginning of the event, there were the President of Kiev Municipal League of Public Organizations of People with Disabilities Alexander Vorona, who told the audience about the project and the perspective of its development in Kyiv.
“We all know what an important role plays a barrier-free environment in the life of people with disabilities on the way to independent life, – noted A. Vorona. – Unfortunately, our city is still not 100% adapted to the needs of disabled population. This also applies to public transport, schools, medical facilities, shops, public buildings, etc. The aim of our project is creation of opportunities for independent social life of people with disabilities by creating an accessible environment. We don’t talk much, we discuss and act, these ramps are the proof”.

The chief doctor of the polyclinic Oleg Sagalevich and the acting head of the Center for socio-psychological rehabilitation of children and youth with functional limitations of Desnyanskiy district Inna Sakalo thanked all the people by whose sincere, charity work, we can easily get to the clinic and rehabilitation center.
“It was our dream. Thank you that you helped to realize it!”
And the solemn music was played on a festive opening and cutting of a red ribbon on the first objects of the project. This honor was granted to one of the girls of the Center, Nadezhda Boldyreva, and she was helped by Alexander Vorona and Oleg Sagalevich.

The concert after the opening ceremony, arranged for the children of the Center, was met by smiles of joy and applause of delight. Sensual songs did not leave anyone indifferent: even the simple passers stopped and joined the crowd of admiring spectators.
Special gratitude from the pupils and their parents, residents of Desnyanskiy district is expressed to the charity Fund ” World Jewish Relief (WJR) and to all the people, who helped to implement the project “Ensuring the right to accessible environment for people with special needs”. With this project, Kyiv became a better and more accessible for handicapped people city.
